Human metapneumovirus (HMPV) is rapidly spreading across the US West Coast, peaking in January. HMPV causes cold-like symptoms such as cough, fever, runny nose, wheezing, and shortness of breath. The virus spreads via respiratory droplets, close contact, and contaminated surfaces.
