Volkswagen has begun road testing the updated Virtus sedan in India, signalling that the carmaker is preparing a mid-life refresh for its popular C-segment offering. The first spy images show the sedan wearing camouflage over the front and rear sections, hinting at styling revisions while retaining its familiar silhouette. The facelifted model is expected to arrive in the second half of 2026.

Design And Exterior
From what the test mule reveals, the facelift will focus on sharpening the sedan's visual appeal rather than a complete redesign. Up front, expect reworked LED headlamps, a revised grille pattern and a sportier bumper design.
At the front, the updated Virtus is expected to feature redesigned LED headlamps, a refreshed grille pattern, and a sharper, sportier bumper. Around the rear, revised LED tail-lamp signatures and a newly styled bumper are also likely, while fresh alloy wheel designs should help set it apart from the current version.
Also, The GT trim spotted during testing may also introduce rear disc brakes and red brake callipers, adding a more performance-oriented look.

Interior and Features
On the inside, Volkswagen is likely to enhance the Virtus with more tech and comfort-focused upgrades. The cabin may receive a revised infotainment system interface, an updated digital instrument cluster, and new upholstery options.
Additional premium elements could include rear-seat massage functionality, a panoramic sunroof, and enhanced ambient lighting to elevate the overall cabin experience. These updates are likely to mirror the recent changes seen on the refreshed Taigun and Kushaq.
Powertrain
Mechanically, the facelifted Virtus is expected to continue with the existing 1.0-litre naturally aspirated and 1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine options. However, Volkswagen may introduce a new 8-speed gearbox for the 1.0-liter powermill to improve the driving experience.

Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine should continue unchanged, offered with the current 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG transmission options.
