Uber has launched a limited-edition product called Uber Drift in Tokyo, Japan, giving tourists a chance to experience drifting from the passenger seat. The service is part of Uber's global "Go Anywhere" series and marks its debut in the Asia-Pacific region.
What is Drift?
The new offering is aimed at visitors who want direct access to Japan's car culture without having to arrange a separate motorsport experience. Drifting, which began in Japan in the 1970s, is a driving style where a car slides sideways through corners at speed. Uber says the new product is designed to make that experience easier to book and more accessible for international travellers.

Uber Drift Itnerary
Uber Drift follows a half-day itinerary that starts in Tokyo. Guests are picked up from their accommodation in an Uber Black van and taken to Mobara Twin Circuit, a venue known for motorsport activity. Once at the track, participants get around 90 minutes of driving and ride sessions in Japanese Domestic Market cars.

Uber Drift Cars
For the drifting runs, Uber has partnered with Formula Drift-licensed professional drivers. Guests sit in the passenger seat while the drivers take them through tandem drift sessions in specially prepared cars, including a Nissan Silvia S15 and a Nissan 180SX. The experience is set up as a controlled track activity, rather than an open-road event.
Uber Drift Booking
The booking format is private and can be reserved for groups of one to four people. The number of laps included in each reservation can be shared across the group or used by a single participant. Uber also requires guests to follow basic track safety rules. Those taking part must wear long sleeves, full-length trousers, and closed-toe shoes, while helmets will be provided.
Reservations for Uber Drift open on May 27, 2026. The experience will be available for about one month, with bookings scheduled from June 3 to July 1, 2026. Pricing has been set at 30,000 JPY (around Rs 18,179) per group, regardless of whether the booking is for one person or four. Capacity is limited to four groups per day.
How To Book Uber Drift?
Uber has also shared the booking process for the service. Users need to open the app, tap the Uber Drift icon, choose a date and time, select the number of participants, enter pickup and drop-off details, and confirm the reservation. An email with the booking information is sent after confirmation.
This launch places Uber Drift alongside previous travel-led offerings from the company, including Uber Safari, Uber Balloon, and Uber Bubbles, as Uber continues to build special experiences around local tourism and culture.
