The new mass-market TVS EV could either be an EV or a moped

TVS Motor Company has an action-packed 2025. After its new 300 cc ADV was spied testing, and Sudarshan Venu confirming the launch of Norton, news coming out of the company suggests that it is getting ready to launch a new entry-level electric two-wheeler, which is likely to be launched ahead of the festive season. It will be positioned below the TVS iQube and will be more affordable too. This means that the new EV will likely be either a scooter or a moped, that will have a smaller battery, simple design and a limited set of features.

It is likely to have a hub-mounted motor like the iQube, but expect it to be different in terms of battery capacity and power and torque output. The new EV will likely be lighter too, catering to a wider variety of customers. Expect it to be priced just below Rs. 1 lakh (ex-showroom). Now, the name of the scooter hasn't been decided yet. But we won't be surprised if it is called the Jupiter EV, given the popularity of the Jupiter brand name in the scooter space. What should also be noted that TVS is almost ready with a CNG version of the Jupiter and if the new EV is indeed launched with the Jupiter brand name, then, it will be the first scooter to have a petrol, CNG and an electric powertrain.

The other body style on the new EV could be a moped, something on the lines of the E-XL, which is a strong possibility too. At present, the only other electric moped is the Kinetic E-Luna, which hasn't exactly been a runaway success and something like the E-XL could be a good option for those who want an electric moped. The new launch should be just before the festive season.
