Renault India has kicked off customer deliveries of its third-generation Duster turbo-petrol variants this month, bringing the popular SUV back to roads after a four-year break. Launched on March 17 at prices starting from Rs 10.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the rugged mid-size SUV is already reaching buyers. Dealers report strong initial demand, with units dispatched nationwide as pre-bookings via Rs 21,000 R Pass vouchers converted to sales.
The new Duster rides on the Renault Group Modular Platform (RGMP), tailored for India's tough conditions with proven endurance and 5-star safety potential. It measures 4,346 mm long with a 2,657 mm wheelbase and 212 mm ground clearance, offering sharp approach (26.9 degrees) and departure (34.7 degrees) angles for off-road prowess. Buyers can pick the Turbo TCe 160 (163 hp, 280 Nm) with 6-speed manual or DCT, or the entry Turbo TCe 100 (100 hp, 160 Nm) mated to manual.

Inside, a 10.1-inch OpenR Link touchscreen with Google integration pairs with a 10.25-inch driver display, 60+ connected services, and 17 ADAS aids like adaptive cruise control. Ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone AC, and powered tailgate add premium touches.

The consumers who booked a Hybrid version of the SUV will have to wait. The Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160, pairing a 1.8-litre petrol with an electric motor for 160 hp total, won't hit roads until Diwali 2026, as production ramps up. Earlier, the brand announced that the requirement for the model will be improved by changes in the production plan. This delay lets Renault fine-tune the 1.4 kWh battery setup.
Priced up to Rs 18.69 lakh, the Duster eyes Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Volkswagen Taigun, and others in a highly competitive segment that it helped pioneer back in 2012.
