- Renault India plans to launch seven new models by 2030 focusing on sub-Rs 10 lakh segment
- The Renault Bridger will have a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and a fully electric variant
- Bridger targets the under-Rs 15 lakh performance category addressing a market gap
Renault India has revealed its plans for the Indian market. Under this strategy, the automaker has confirmed the plan to introduce seven new models by 2030. With these new models, the brand will expand its presence in multiple segments with a special focus on the sub-Rs 10 lakh category. Along with this, the higher budget segments will see the launch of models like the Bridger in the coming years.
Currently a concept, the Renault Bridger will introduce a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine alongside fully electric variants, marking Renault's entry into India's EV market. The Bridger's new turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine draws inspiration from the global Renault Clio 6, delivering around 113.4 bhp.
This potent unit addresses the demand for performance in the under-Rs 15 lakh category, where Renault has been absent for some time. Entry-level options may include a smaller 1.0-litre turbo-petrol from the Kiger lineup.

Electric versions represent a milestone as Renault's first BEV for India, potentially featuring battery packs up to 40 kWh to rival the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV. Production of these electrified models aligns with Renault's multi-energy strategy, supporting both domestic sales and exports.

Built on the Renault Group Modular Platform (RGMP), shared with the new Duster, the Bridger will likely measure under 4 metres for tax benefits in India. It will fill the gap between the Kiger and Duster, offering rugged styling, 400 litres of boot space, and possible AWD in higher trims. The Chennai plant will handle manufacturing starting in 2027, with India as the debut market.
Expected to launch by late 2027, the Bridger targets high-volume buyers. It directly challenges the Tata Nexon, Skoda Kylaq, Maruti Brezza, and Mahindra XUV 3XO, bolstered by turbo-petrol and EV options. Renault's India 2.0 plan includes seven new models by 2030, aiming to rank the country among its top three global markets.
