Tata Motors has revived the Sierra nameplate with the unveiling of the latest model carrying the name of the SUV from the 1990s. In this iteration, the SUV brings modern design elements combined with a plush cabin loaded with modern technology. Before the official unveiling, the SUV had been showcased on multiple occasions by the brand at its different stages of development, beginning from concept version to the pre-production design. However, all the details of the SUV are out now, and here we take a look at them.
Tata Sierra: Exterior
Tata Sierra gets a boxy design inspired by its predecessor but with multiple elements aimed at offering a contemporary appeal. To begin with, the SUV has an upright stance with liberal use of gloss-black panels, which brings together the LED headlights and DRLs with the brand's logo and "Sierra" lettering. All of this is complemented by the presence of a skid plate and two fog lamps integrated into the bumper.
From the side, the SUV appears to be following a straight line with apparent flush-type door handles. It also has a prominent glass section between the B and C pillars, creating a visual effect reminiscent of its predecessor. Planting the SUV on the ground are 19-inch alloy wheels with plastic-cladding on the wheel arches. Very similar to the front end, the rear end offers a modern appeal with an LED light bar covering the width of the vehicle, which merges with the tail lamp.
Tata Sierra: Interior
Within the interior, the Sierra is equipped with three displays on the dashboard: one designated for the driver and two for infotainment, which can share content seamlessly. It features the same four-spoke steering wheel found in the Tata Curvv, complete with a illuminated Tata logo and touch-sensitive controls.
The cabin boasts a black and grey color scheme, while the expansive panoramic sunroof that extends to the C-pillar provides an open and spacious atmosphere. It accommodates five seats adorned with a dual-tone beige and grey color palette. Each seat is equipped with adjustable headrests and 3-point seatbelts.
Tata Sierra: Features
The key features include dual-zone automatic climate control, a wireless phone charger, powered and ventilated front seats, rear sunshades, a 360-degree camera, Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and more.
Tata Sierra: Powertrain
The new Tata Sierra will likely debut the carmaker's 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, first showcased at the Auto Expo 2023. It will produce around 170 hp and 280 Nm and will be available with both manual and automatic transmissions. This is not the only new engine for the Sierra, as per reports, Tata will also offer a 1.5-litre NA petrol mill with the SUV. Apart from this, the SUV will have a 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 118 hp of power and 260 Nm torque. This is the same unit that the brand has employed on Curvv and Nexon.
