Kia has introduced the redesigned 2027 Seltos at the New York International Auto Show, marking the first time the compact SUV enters the U.S. market with a hybrid powertrain. The new model builds on the outgoing Seltos by adding electrified appeal, unlike the one offered in India, along with fresh styling and a more spacious interior aimed at expanding its customer base.
Kia Seltos Hybrid
For the 2027 model year, the Seltos gains a turbocharged 1.6-litre hybrid unit tuned for front-wheel drive, paired with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. An e-AWD option is available on the hybrid variant, broadening its capability for buyers who want added traction without sacrificing fuel efficiency. Kia has not yet released final power figures or range estimates, with full details expected closer to the hybrid's launch.

Three-engine lineup
Customers who prefer conventional powertrains can still choose a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with front-wheel drive and a CVT, positioned as the entry-level option. A naturally aspirated 1.6-litre turbo model is also offered, delivering an estimated 190 hp to all-wheel drive via an eight-speed automatic and selectable drive modes. These powertrain options are different from what the brand offers in India. Specifically, the SUV comes with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel.

The second-generation Seltos grows by 60 mm in wheelbase to 2,690 mm, while the global spec adds 30 mm in width, improving cabin and luggage space. Ground clearance rises to 206 mm in the taller trim, enhancing light-off-road capability. The exterior draws cues from the Telluride with a squared-off grille, flatter hood, and rear styling that echoes the EV3, giving it a more substantial presence than the previous model.
Tech-heavy interior
Inside, the Seltos debuts a nearly 30-inch combined digital display cluster and infotainment unit at higher trims, supported by over-the-air update capability. Streaming apps such as YouTube and Netflix are available, along with themed UI options tied to brands like Disney and NBA teams. Advanced driver-assistance systems, a surround-view camera, and a panoramic roof are also offered, while the hybrid additionally features an EV9-style stalk-mounted shifter.
Overall, the 2027 Seltos aims to evolve from a basic compact SUV into a more versatile, tech-forward offering for American buyers, especially those considering hybrid or turbo options.
