Ducati has unveiled the Formula 73, a limited-edition cafe racer that revives a name steeped in the brand's racing heritage. Only 873 units will be produced for global markets, each carrying a unique numbered plate to highlight its exclusivity. The Formula 73 is designed as a heritage-driven motorcycle, linking Ducati's vintage racing machines of the 1970s with its modern air-cooled line-up. While it uses a familiar platform, the model arrives with a distinct identity tied to Ducati's racing past.
Visually, the Formula 73 makes a strong impression with its silver and aqua green paint scheme, complemented by a vertical gold stripe across the fuel tank. This design detail pays homage to the 750 Imola Desmo, which famously featured an unpainted strip to allow teams to monitor fuel levels during races. The bike's cafe racer styling is further emphasized by clip-on handlebars, bar-end mirrors, and a half fairing, all of which enhance its retro-sporting character.
Powering the motorcycle is an 803cc air-cooled L-twin engine with Ducati's signature desmodromic valve system. The engine produces 71 bhp and 65 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox. This setup ensures a responsive and engaging ride, offering a light and direct feel that suits both urban commutes and spirited weekend rides. The Formula 73's performance is tailored to the cafe racer ethos, delivering agility and character without overwhelming the rider.

Adding to its exclusivity, Ducati equips the Formula 73 with a Termignoni exhaust system designed specifically for this model. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres, ensuring grip and stability. Premium mechanical touches include billet aluminium brake and clutch levers, foot pegs, and a Rizoma fuel cap, underscoring Ducati's attention to detail and craftsmanship.
Despite its heritage-inspired design, the Formula 73 incorporates modern electronics to enhance safety and usability. Riders benefit from DTC traction control, cornering ABS, Ducati Quick Shift, and two riding modes, making the bike adaptable to varied conditions while retaining its classic appeal.
