Bengaluru boy standing through sunroof hits overhead barrier

Other than large touchscreens, another feature that has caught the attention of car buyers is a sunroof. So much so that a high demand for the sunroof has been observed in the Indian automotive world. However, the reckless use of a sunroof has been seen. Recently, we came across a video on X that shows a boy sticking his head out of the sunroof. Just a few seconds later in the video, we see him hit an overhead barrier.

The incident, caught on video, shows a Mahindra XUV 3XO SUV on the GKVK Road, Bengaluru, when the child, believed to be six to eight years old, struck his forehead against a railway height barrier before quickly ducking back inside. As per reports, the boy sustained injuries to his head. However, the exact condition of the injuries and other details are unknown.

The video was shared by @theskindoctor13 on X (formerly Twitter), captioned- "Very bad parenting! Kids find a sunroof thrilling, but they don't understand it's illegal and dangerous. It's the parents' duty to know that and act responsibly.

Yet the opposite is happening more often these days. Hope this incident opens some eyes."

One of the X users said, "Making Indians pay more for a sunroof that has no use in Indian conditions is the biggest consumer manipulation by car companies". While another user said- " In India, if you're lucky enough to be in a car, lock all the doors, lock everything down, and try to keep outside contact to a bare minimum, bcoz on Indian roads, danger lurks at every step, and you won't even know what hit you until it's too late."

Meanwhile, it must be noted that the sunroof is made to allow natural light and air ventilation, and putting your head out from the sunroof may pose a threat and a distraction for other motorists.
