Toyota's next-generation Fortuner has been spotted testing in Thailand, confirming that the company is preparing a full model update rather than a minor refresh. The SUV was heavily camouflaged, but the sighting makes it clear that development is progressing toward a global debut expected in late 2026.
The Fortuner has been a familiar name in the SUV segment for nearly two decades. First introduced in 2004 and launched in India in 2009, it quickly earned a reputation for durability, reliability, and strong road presence. Over the years, it has transformed from a rugged utility vehicle into a premium seven-seater SUV, consistently leading its category.

2026 Toyota Fortuner: Design And Render Images
Recent renderings shared online by malvinwsetiawan align closely with the camouflaged prototype. The new model is expected to feature a bold hexagonal grille with honeycomb detailing, slimmer split headlamps with LED DRLs, and a muscular bumper design. These elements give the SUV a more aggressive, Hilux-inspired appearance. Boxy proportions, flared arches, and large alloy wheels further emphasize its tough stance, while sharper detailing at the rear is likely to modernize its look.
2026 Toyota Fortuner: Interior & Features Expected
Inside, a major redesign is anticipated. Borrowing cues from the latest Hilux, the cabin could include a fully digital instrument cluster and a larger 12.3-inch infotainment system. Feature upgrades are expected to cover dual displays, wireless charging, ventilated and powered seats, a panoramic sunroof, and improved connectivity with over-the-air updates. These changes would address long-standing criticism of the current Fortuner's dated interior.

Spy shots also confirm radar sensors and cameras, pointing to the inclusion of Toyota Safety Sense. This advanced driver assistance suite is likely to bring adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, collision avoidance, and other Level 2 ADAS features. A 360-degree camera, parking sensors, and electronic parking brake with auto-hold are also expected, making the Fortuner more competitive against newer rivals.
