Suzuki has unveiled its flagship motorcycle GSX-R1000R, for the UK and Europe after a brief break. In this latest avatar, the motorcycle has received a host of technical upgrades mixed with retro celebration liveries, and what seems to be a norm in the world of superbikes, winglets. Along with it, the specs of the motorcycle have been revised to make it better than the previous generation and compliant with the latest Euro5+ emission norms.
Starting with the heart of the matter, the GSX-R1000R comes with a heavily reworked engine, which still uses a 1000 cc inline-four. However, the brand has used a new crankshaft and crankcases with new pistons and connecting rods in the unit, resulting in a higher compression ratio. While keeping the variable valve timing (VVT) system, the bike gets a new fuel pump and revised injectors, all focused on putting out 193 hp of power while screaming at 13,200 rpm and 110 Nm while revving at 11,000 rpm.

The screamer is housed in the same twin-spar aluminium frame while carrying forward the same swingarm. However, the brand has worked on improving the riding dynamics with the addition of carbon winglets. Hollow in construction, they have been designed to produce significant downforce at high speed without making the bike unpredictable, working in tandem with the top-spec Showa Balance Free Forks and a Balance Free shock.

Braking duties are the responsibility of a four-piston Brembo monoblocs biting on 320 mm floating discs at the front. To make things better, the motorcycle uses a new ABS unit, which is designed to save on weight. Improving the grip on tarmac are Bridgestone's sticky RS11 tyres at both ends.
The list of rider aid features includes a six-axis IMU and the brand's Roll Torque Control system (RTCS), which is essentially a traction control system. Taking things further, the bike gets a 10-level anti-wheelie system, lean-sensitive ABS, launch control, slope-dependent braking control, bi-directional quickshifter, low-RPM assist, and easy start functions. To go with all of this, the bike has a new lightweight Li-ion battery.
Complementing all the aforementioned upgrades are classic GSX-R liveries: blue with white, red with white, and a yellow with matte blue option. All of them get a 40th anniversary logo on the fairing and the tank. However, it doesn't end there, the also has a retro 'R' on the bellypan and branding across the seat and silencer.
