Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has proposed to provide a direct cash subsidy on fuel and fertilizers to the poor from March 2012. Explaining how it will work, UID chief Nandan Nilekani said for this the citizens will either have a bank a/c or kerosene a/c and they will be given their quota directly into this account.
