Four months after Australia cricketer Phillip Hughes died after being hit by a bouncer, Ankit Keshri, a former captain for his state's under-19 team, battled for three days before passing away at a Kolkata hospital on Monday. Keshri, a right-handed batsman and leg-spinner, came on as a substitute fielder for his club (East Bengal) and collided with a team-mate as both players went for a high catch during a Cricket Association of Bengal Knockout match at the Jadavpur University ground in Salt Lake. Ankit was on the BCCI's probables list for last year's U-19 World Cup. He represented Bengal U-19 for three seasons, even leading in 2013-14. Having played for Bengal U-23, he was a hot prospect for the Ranji Trophy side. In November, Hughes passed away at the age of 25, two days after he was struck in the neck by a bouncer with the incident sparking a massive outpouring of grief across the world. This one has been no less.
