The attempt to unlock gold holdings of exchange traded funds (ETFs) is positive, says Lakshmi Iyer, head of products at Kotak Mahindra AMC. She adds that the operational details of the scheme linking gold ETFs to deposit schemes will determine whether ETFs start to park some of their gold holdings with banks. Ms Iyer also explains that investment demand for gold through ETFs remains strong.
