Encephalitis is not only claiming lives in Gorakhpur in eastern Uttar Pradesh but is also causing permanent damage to those who survive the viral infection. Doctors say at least 70% of children who contract the disease do not survive. And of those who do survive, 30% are left with physical disabilities. We take stock of the government health centres in Gorakhpur.
