At a time when farmers are driven to distress and suicide because of a lack of water, in the Warangal district of Andhra Pradesh, at least 10,000 crore rupees have been spent on a lift irrigation project that right from the beginning has been called unviable because water and power are simply not available. This was part of YSR's ambitious ala-yagnam project and meant to benefit parched Telangana lands.
