Cabinet nod to more senior posts in forces

The Union Cabinet, on Friday, cleared a long-pending proposal to create more posts in the higher ranks of the armed forces aimed at reducing stagnation and improving upward mobility of officers. A total of 1896 new posts between the rank of Colonels and equivalent upto Lieutenant Generals -- equivalent in the three forces -- have been approved.
