Prince Harry looking for talented musicians on TV

Prince Harry looking for talented musicians on TV
London: It's an unlikely pairing, but Prince Harry is teaming up with drum'n'bass DJ Goldie for a new television show.

Called "Goldie's Band: By Royal Appointment," the contest sees the DJ on a nationwide search for the country's best musical talent.

However, this isn't just a straight up reality show.

Goldie is looking for people who have used music to overcome challenging situations in their lives and will take a look at the transformative powers of music.

The chosen 12 finalists will then be mentored by industry experts: composer Guy Chambers, jazz artist Soweto Kinch and singer/songwriter Cerys Matthews and undergo training before they perform at a special concert to be held at Buckingham Palace in front of Prince Harry and an invited audience.

In a statement issued by the BBC, Goldie described the project as "one of the most inspiring projects I've ever been involved with."

Adding; "It's all about unearthing musical talent that's under the radar in Britain - finding young people who've faced huge challenges and have never had the opportunities that they deserve."

"Goldie's Band: By Royal Appointment" will be screened on BBC2 in the UK early next year.
