In the eye of a major storm, Hyderabad University Vice Chancellor Appa Rao Podile breaks his silence on the suicide of Dalit Scholar Rohith Vemula. He says that he was shocked at the student's suicide but insists that he acted as per varsity rules. The Vice Chancellor also categorically denies any pressure from the HRD minister or her ministry. He insists that the letters from the ministry were treated as routine and the university didn't even reply to them.
