The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday established the Terai Elephant Reserve (TER) in Lakhimpur Kheri. Spread over an area of 3,072.358 sq km, the proposal for TER was drafted by the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve (DTR) authorities in April, 2022. "The Terai Elephant Reserve came into existence as soon as the state government issued the notification. This is the second elephant reserve in the state whose area is 4 times more than the first reserve," said Sanjay Pathak, Area Director, Dudhwa Tiger Reserve.
