West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the second time in two days urging him to defer the two competitive exams, JEE and NEET, and expressing her concern over students being exposed to the risk of contracting the coronavirus infection. Today's letter comes after the state received a note from the National Testing Agency (NTA) asking it to make arrangements for the JEE exams from September 1 and NEET, which is also likely to be held later in September. But a number of students in Bengal who aspire to be doctors and engineers are opposed to taking the exams amid the coronavirus pandemic. NDTV's Monideepa Banerjie speaks to students in Kolkata, one of whom has recovered from COVID-19 along with his entire family.
