The Delhi government has imposed a ban on bursting, manufacturing, storing and selling of firecrackers under Section 9B of the Explosives Act. Health Minister Gopal Rai has said manufacturing, storing and selling of firecrackers will attract a fine of Rs 5,000 and a jail term of three years. He said bursting of firecrackers will attract a fine of Rs 200 with a jail term of six months. This step is being taken by the government to keep pollution levels in control in Delhi.
