Crimes Against Women 50% Less In Chennai With 2.5 Lakh CCTV Cameras

The Chennai police say crimes against women in the city has dropped by 50 per cent after they installed 2.5 lakh CCTV cameras in the city. The crimes that have come down, they add, include chain snatching, stalking and molestation. Now, the city roads and lanes have a CCTV every 50 metres, thanks to the police-public partnership. They are now planning to link cameras at 1,500 vulnerable junctions for live monitoring. NDTV spoke to Prem Anand Sinha, the Additional Police Commissioner of Chennai South.
