It is India's first planned city. And now Chandigarh, is one step closer to being completely run on green energy. North India's largest floating Solar project of 2000 kilowatt peak or kwP has been installed in Chandigarh's Sector-39 at a total cost of Rs 11.70 crore rupees. A Kilowatt Peak is the rate at which a photovoltaic panel generates energy at peak performance, like on a bright sunny day. Theoretically one KWP corresponds to a thousand kilowatt hour of electricity annually. Another 500kWp floating Solar Project has been established at Dhanas Lake in Chandigarh, which will reportedly serve the energy needs for all buildings and offices under the Forest Department.
