A report from the now-suspended chief of Nagaland's Dimapur Central Jail has indicated that the lack of reinforcements gave ample time - around five hours - for a mob to break into the jail and carry out a detailed search for a rape-accused man, who was then dragged out and lynched on March 5. The report also claims that the mob encouraged other prisoners to escape in the chaos - two members of an insurgent outfit managed to escape.
