Stranded passengers of an Air India flight, including children and elderly, found themselves battling language barriers, unfamiliar food, and substandard accommodation after their plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Magadan, Russia, where the temperature is quite cold even in the summer months. The Air India flight, a Boeing 777, was travelling from Delhi to San Francisco with 216 passengers and 16 crew members on board when it developed a technical issue with one of its engines on Tuesday. The passengers speak to NDTV on their experience. Girvaan Singh, a teenager and one of the passengers, said he had no woollens and brought only light clothes. "None of us expected it would be extremely windy. We had no food or water for two-three hours. The second day was a bit better. But with a lot of people being vegetarians, we had problems getting food," Mr Singh said. His younger brother, Jaivant Singh, said it was extremely cold when they got out of the aircraft. "There is also a language barrier. Except for food and language barrier, the people there have been helpful," Girvaan Singh said.
