Kerala's 'Amma Thottil' Programme Wins Praise From UNICEF

The Mothers' Cradle is a concept that was launched by the Kerala government in 2002. This cradle has been a lifesaver for nearly 1000 children in Kerala over the last 22 years. The mother's cradle or 'amma thottil' in Malayalam is placed at the entrance of the Kerala State Council for Child Welfare office in Thiruvananthapuram. This year so far, the cradle has received 21 infants, who are being cared for by the staff at KSCCW until they are adopted by caring parents. The Mothers' Cradle is a concept that was launched by the Kerala government in 2002.
