While speaking at the Cleanathon, film director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, who believes in putting his ideas into action, said that Mahatma Gandhi's model toilets at the Sabarmati Ashram encouraged him to construct toilets for the people in need and end open defecation. He further stated that along with the NGO Yuva Unstoppable, which has 1,50,000 volunteers, he has adopted 601 schools and slums, wherein nearly 10,000 toilets were built in total. "Along with the construction of toilets, we are also providing maintenance infrastructure for two years. And in the sites where our NGO has worked, we have witnessed a rise of 86 percent in girls coming back to schools where toilets have been installed," the director of Rang De Basanti further added.
