Against the backdrop of the Supreme Court's strong directions, Dahi Handi celebrations on Janmashtami in Maharashtra went ahead with festive fervour. In Thane, a police case was filed against Avinash Yadav, the man who openly defied orders sporting a message on his T-shirt - "I will break the law" written in Marathi. Police across Mumbai forced organisers to reduce the heights of the dahi handi - some of them strung up at 49 feet - more than double the 20 feet allowed by the Supreme Court. But do the court's orders 'kill the spirit of adventure' as Handi enthusiasts put it? Or will they make the event safer?
