Land acquisition notices invariably spell trouble and this time, it is Pune's new airport in jeopardy. Farmers in Khed taluka, where the airport is planned, say they would rather die than part with their most treasured asset - their fields. They are the reluctant inheritors of wealth, sons of the soil standing between Pune's proposed new airport and the land they have tilled for generations.
