National Conference leader Omar Abdullah while addressing a rally in Bandipora said that the ban on Jamaat-e-Islami should be revoked. Jamaat-e-Islami was banned in 2019 by the BJP-led NDA government at the centre, under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Mr Abdullah said, "I have already made a demand that the ban on Jamaat-e-Islami should be revoked, and they should contest in the upcoming assembly election. Isn't it weird that the Home Minister is abandoning his campaign and coming here for two days, where the BJP is not even contesting? He must be coming to harm National Conference in some way."
