Mumbai: Actor Gaurav Gera, who entered the reality TV dance show Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa season 9 as Chutki - a character from his popular Shopkeeper videos - was the first contestant to be evicted from the show on Saturday.

Citing a wardrobe malfunction during the performance, Gaurav told IANS: "My foot got entangled with the skirt and throughout the performance I was conscious of the fact and kept wondering if I should continue or not as I was sceptic I might fall any minute."

Sharing his experience, he said that for a contestant, the show takes a lot of time.

"It is a good show to be a part of but definitely as a contestant it takes a lot of time. In a way my journey is over and I am happy that I had a great time but that's about it," Gaurav said.

Besides his dance performances, Gaurav also shot videos as chutki with the judges Karan Johar, Jacqueline Fernandez and host of the Colors TV show, Manish Paul.

"I made some fantastic videos with Jacqueline, Karan and Manish. There were a lot of friends and I made videos with everyone (contestants) so I have my memories forever," he said.

Asked if he had entered the show as Gauarv Gera and not as Chutki, would he have lasted longer?

"No, had I gone as myself I would have been out sooner. After all the show is about dancing. Some are really good in those terms and the judges cannot really look through the fact. There are people who vote in the audience, they can see the performance. Going by that, I thought others are really good and well deserving so it is fair," Gaurav, who played the role of Nandu in the hit TV show Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, said.

"As Gaurav it wouldn't have been as much fun, I would have either gone as shopkeeper or chutki because it would also take my brand further. I want more people to be aware of what I do, I want more people to watch my videos because all my videos are quirky and you tend to like them slowly and steadily. We had plans to bring in Gauarv and shopkeeper later but I came out too early as after all it is a dancing show," he added.

Gaurav said he is working on "some web series, for which talks are on".
