Comedian Jimmy Kimmel will hostthe 64th Emmy awards on September 23.
The funnyman takes the role from Glee's Jane Lynch, whohosted last year's event, the Hollywood Reporter said.
"I hope to be able to do for the Emmys this year whatEddie Murphy did for the Oscars," Kimmel joked while referringto the Oscar debacle in which Murphy pulled out of hostingthis year's Oscars after producer Brett Ratner left the showfollowing an anti-gay remark.
