I come to you from the banks of the river, the the village which is closest to the river, the Amla village in Mohali. And you can see the kind of havoc or the fury that the Gaar River has unleashed. It's currently flowing above danger levels and you can see that, you know, pool has completely broken. The portion of the pool was completely washed away because of, you know, the completely. The standing paddy crop has been uprooted because of the GAA River actually flowing above danger levels. Let me actually show you the river. If I can ask my camera person to follow me here, Um there you can see you know, the river is right here and it's flowing above danger levels. And I will come to you from the bank of the river and all the fields, the paddy fields and the agricultural lands which are closed to these areas to the river. They've been completely inundated, so you can see how the paddy crop has been completely uprooted Because of incessant rain and consequent flooding. The Agricultural department has just started to take stock the situation. It is assessing the crop damage, but what farmers here tell us is that there has been major damage, the worst they've seen in nearly three decades. And that is visible in the visuals here. We spoke to some of these farmers and also tried to get a sense of how much destruction has been there. As far as the crops are concerned. Take a look at this report. You can see it has caused major destruction to villages along the river. In fact, particularly the villages on the banks of the river. And I'm currently at the Amla Village, which is closest to the Gaar River. And what is a big concern right now is that farmers are now staring at major losses, their paddy fields. And if I can ask my camera to show you the paddy fields have been completely inundated. The standing paddy crop has been uprooted because of the floods. In fact, if I can show you the farm which is right adjacent and very close to the river right next to the Gaga River to see the situation here. This farm has been completely inundated. This is not just a paddy crop, but also vegetables, cotton that the farmers had sown. They've been completely destroyed. And here you can see this was all sanding paddy crop that has been completely uprooted. And there you can see if I can come closer to the river. In fact, the gaar is flowing right here, currently overflowing, flowing above danger levels for the past two days. And that has become a big worry for farmers here. So this is the K River. And you know, close to 50 villages which are along the river have been impacted. This is a sandy crop that has been uprooted. You can see and this means that major losses for farmers because the agricultural department has only just started to actually assess these losses. And let us go across to some farmers here who have been reeling under a lot of duress. Agricultural department. So So if I can ask my camera person to show you the extent of the damage because this is all farmlands and all of them have been inundated completely. Connectivity. Last 83 is when they saw this kind of damage. And in 93 I beg your pardon. There you can see the river is flowing right here and the extent of the damage because of the rain. And now there is some relief, given the fact that it has not rained in the past couple of hours. But, you know, 20 villages have been completely evacuated as well, those which were labelled as flood prone. Here in Mohali, those villages have been evacuated, and now it remains to be seen how much the farmers have to stare in terms of losses.
