The Karnataka transport department has announced a new, uniform fare structure for cabs operating in the state. It has also fixed kilometre-based fares for all types of cabs, including airport taxis, and prohibited practices such as surge pricing. The move is an attempt to bring parity among taxi fares, including those operating through app-based aggregators.
