Environmentalist Ravi Chopra has resigned as chairman of the Supreme Court-appointed High-Powered Committee (HPC) overseeing the Narendra Modi government's Char Dham highway project. In a letter dated January 27, Mr Chopra has said that the panel to protect the Himalayas "has been shattered". He speaks to NDTV on what led to this disappointment and his concerns for the ecologically fragile region. He says the issue was not the widening of roads but the manner in which it's being done.
