The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Wednesday busted a major gold smuggling syndicate, seizing over 61 kg of gold valued at Rs 40 crore in its operation code-named 'Rising Sun'. Twelve suspects, including two masterminds, have been arrested. DRI's pan-India operation, 'Rising Sun', has been commended by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for its effectiveness and coordination.
