"The officers under the law were duty-bound to make inquiries because this sort of a call cannot be ignored," said Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi, defending the police action at Kerala House after members of Hindu Sena alleged that the state guest house was serving 'beef'. In an interview to NDTV, Mr Bassi said that the call "created a reasonable apprehension that this can lead to some law and order situation" and that the police action was "absolutely legitimate".
