The yen balloon has finally burst and the hot air has blown away markets across the world. For years now, the yen was so cheap compared to other currencies that investors across the globe used to take loans from Japan and buy other currencies.They hoped to earn from the arbitrage or invest in markets; especially the emerging markets where returns were much higher.
