Smeeta Chakrabarti

President – Revenue, NDTV and Chief Executive Officer NDTV Lifestyle

With a career in television production and management spanning over 20 years, Smeeta is amongst the stalwarts of the Indian television industry.

As Head of Operations for NDTV, Smeeta contributed to several path-breaking, innovative and award winning programmes – The World this Week; The News Tonight; Ji Mantri Ji; Made of India and most recently campaigns such Greenathon and Tigerthon.

In 2008, Smeeta was appointed Chief Executive Officer of NDTV Lifestyle Limited (NDTVLS) and led an exceptional team in launching India’s first Lifestyle channel – NDTV Good Times. The channel met with instant success and has defined Lifestyles genre in India.

As the CEO, Smeeta provides thought and business leadership to the business. In addition to the management of day-to-day operations of the Company, she guides company strategy; ensures adherence to the business plan by creating avenues for top-line and bottom-line growth; creates and reviews plans of new channel launches under the Lifestyle genre and other business development initiatives. She also reviews performance of the teams, provides feedback and suggests corrective measures.

In 2012, Smeeta assumed the role of President – Revenue for NDTV. In this most crucial role, she is responsible for developing overall business development strategies and plans to achieve growth and market share objectives. She actively oversees the sales function to maximize revenues and drive synergy across the NDTV network value proposition.

She has been successful in achieving a rare blend of strategic and operational expertise and in doing so, has received many awards both as an individual and for the content / business she has helped create.

She holds a Graduate Degree in History from St. Stephens College, New Delhi and a Master’s in Television, Radio and Film from Syracuse University, New York.

She lives in New Delhi and enjoys travelling.
