Researchers filmed a rare Antarctic gonate squid off Antarctica, seen alive for the first time. The squid was captured at a depth of 7,060 feet in the ocean's midnight zone on December 25, 2024. The three-foot-long squid was observed by a team aboard the RV Falkor (too) ship from Schmidt Ocean Institute.
