A BJP leader's comment that India wasn't racist because if we were 'why would we have the complete south?' has drawn criticism. There have been many jokes in the past about how those from the north referred to all people from the south as Madrasis. Or considered them a uniform block of people who were all the same as each other, but who were different from the rest of the country. The comment made by Tarun Vijay, who later apologised, has awoken that feeling again.
