The far reaching recommendations of the Justice Verma panel on women's safety have given protesters and activists hope for change. But given the national interest in the issue, why was the first copy of the report not received by the Prime Minister despite a request from the panel to do so? Talking to NDTV on a special interactive show, Gopal Subramanium and Leila Seth - members of the panel - shared how Justice Verma's opening letter to the report is addressed to the Prime Minister, but the report was eventually handed over to a Joint Secretary in the Home Ministry. The Verma panel said they are not sure whether their request was conveyed to the Prime Minister or not.
