The extent of the damage left behind by the ferocious tsunami unleashed by Japan's biggest recorded earthquake was slowly becoming clearer by Saturday afternoon. The earthquake on Friday killed hundreds of people as it carried away ships, cars and homes, and triggered widespread fires that burned out of control.
