Swedish carmaker Volvo has slashed prices of its three luxury models in India by introducing new variants of the sedan S60, S80 and sports utility vehicle XC60 at introductory price between Rs 23.2 lakh and Rs 35.9 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Swedish carmaker Volvo has cut prices of its three luxury models in India by introducing new variants of the sedan - the S60, S80 and sports utility vehicle XC60 - at introductory prices of between Rs 23.2 lakh and Rs 35.9 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Volvo is eyeing a 15 per cent market share of India's luxury car market by 2020 by selling over 20,000 units a year by then. Last year, Volvo Auto India sold 320 units and is aiming to sell 800 vehicles in 2012.

The company is aiming to be among the top three in the Indian luxury market, currently led by German automakers BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi.

The Volvo S60 is available in India in a Rs 27 lakh to Rs 34 lakh price range.

Volvo is also bringing a variant of its XC 60 at lower prices. Currently, the XC 60 is available in the Indian market for Rs 42 lakh to Rs 50 lakh.

Volvo has priced its S80 at Rs 38 lakh to 45 lakh in India.

The new 163 bhp 5 cylinder Volvo D3 engine. The company is offering an introductory discount of Rs 70,000 on its new D3 range through March 2012.
