Russian scientists confirmed a new island in the northern Caspian Sea during a research expedition. The island emerged due to a decrease in the Caspian Sea's water level linked to climate change. It is located 30 km southwest of Maly Zhemchuzhny Island and may grow with ongoing water level drops.
