The Indian men's team comprising Rai, Samresh Jung and Prakash Nanjappa, won the bronze in the men's event. Both India and China were tied on 1,743 points but the latter clinched the silver on account of an extra x. The Chinese team had 65x while Indian has 64x. Rai, who won the 50m gold, shot 585, Jung had 580 and Nanjappa 578.

This is India's eighth bronze at Asian Games badminton after having claimed one in 1974 Tehran, five in 1982 New Delhi and one more in 1986 Seoul. This is also India's second ever medal in women's team event after clinching a bronze 32 years ago at home. India have never won an Asian Games silver or gold from the discipline.
