Diesel Price Cut By Around 20 Paise, Petrol Unchanged Across Metros

The price of petrol was kept unchanged while price of diesel was reduced by around 20 paise across the four metro cities in the country by the state-run oil refiner Indian Oil. Price of diesel or gasoil was reduced by 18 paise to Rs 71.10 per litre while petrol was kept steady at Rs 81.06 per litre in Delhi, according to information on Indian Oil's website https://iocl.com. State-run oil marking companies such as Indian Oil Corporation review the petrol and diesel prices on a daily basis, and implement any revisions at fuel stations with effect from 6 am. Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum account for the majority of fuel stations in the country

Crude oil prices were steady as a new wave of coronavirus cases in Europe led several countries to reimpose travel restrictions, offsetting a bullish drop in U.S. crude and fuel inventories.

Brent futures settled 17 cents, or 0.4 per cent, higher at $41.94 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude gained 38 cents, or 1.0 per cent, to end at $40.31 on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the rupee appreciated by 25 paise - or 0.34 per cent - to 73.65 against the US dollar on Friday amid gains in most Asian currencies, a day after declining to a one-month low.
