Reliance Jio Rolls Out Broadband Service JioFiber: Here Are The Highlights
Reliance Jio Infocomm, the telecom arm of billionaire Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries, started the commercial operations of its optical fiber-based fixed-line broadband service JioFiber. The launch of JioFiber comes comes as Reliance Jio Infocomm - the provider of telecom services under brand Jio - completed three years of commercial operations. In a statement late on Thursday, Reliance Jio said in a statement: "With JioFiber, Jio continues to deliver on its promise of connecting the unconnected while bringing about transformational changes to Indian homes, that it started with its mobility service three years ago, on 5th September 2016."
Reliance Industries' 42nd annual general meeting in August, chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani said the company had received more than 15 million JioFiber registrations from nearly 1,600 towns. Reliance Jio Infocomm had invited interest for registration starting August 15, 2018.
